Reflecting on my blog.

Early in the year, I learned the importance of making sure to edit clips effectively. You can see that in my first film the clips were cut, but you can see that a few of them were either cut too short or not cut early enough. On my second project, I learned how to properly edit the clips so they weren't cut off. With the help of my partner, the cuts were effective. Later in the year, not only did I perfect cutting clips, but i also got really good at ediding clips in the films that i produced. A good example of this was in the jabberwocky project, because all of the clips were cut well and the effects that were given to them worked effectively in getting the mood of the poem across. I feel that this was one of the very first times I learned how to properly use the effects with the clips without getting the feeling that something didn't look right or didnt feel the same mood as the background music or poem. This was one of the first times i felt really accomplished about what i did because i started to get a good feel for not just editing clips but also the pictures i used. Another good example of this is in my video for the water is wide story. This is probably the video i am most proud of because looking through all of my videos before this one, they were not as well edited as this one. In the water is wide video, i felt that the clips went along with the music and captured the mood. Also, that was the most effects put in a video than any of the other ones on my blog, and it also contained the most emotion and variation of clips. I am also very proud of the last video i made becasue that is also a very good example of showing all of the things i learned during this class.

Abstract Story

The story of our video is about a prince and a princess. In the first part the princess is waiting for the prince to come, and when he came to get her they went on their way to a castle to ask her parents if he can marry her. They don't agree with their marriage. After that, the prince and the princess run away to get married. After that they are happy. The sequence of images that I am most proud of is 1:52- 2:15. In this segment we were trying to show that the mood changhed drastically. The images we chose were effective because the fire was a symbol of anger and the faces twisting were supposed to show that the parents did not approve. The colors helped because red gives off a feeling of anger and blue gives a sense of sadness. I think our film is about 30% abstract. We made sure that the colors matched the mood such as the clips i listed that we were most proud of. I learned that there are many interpretations when it comes to abstract images and that they can really evoke a feeling. Between pictures and music, I learned that you have to match up the feelings of both the picture and the music in order to get a feeling across. The most important contribution that my partner made to this film was her imput about how to edit the pictures and clips to get and where to put things. I believe that my most important contribution was editing and also sharing my ideas with her.

Jabberwocky Project.

the effect that i think we used the best was the bend effect. i think it worked because it made the swords look like they played an important role in the poem. we were trying to communicate a sense of alertness because the sword was what was going to be used to slay the jabberwocky. by using the image and effect, we were trying to give the idea that the scene was mystical because of the poem.
